1987 Dodge Caravan has trouble starting

When I go to start it sometimes it just clicks when I turn the key, no other noise. I have to keep turning it over and over until it finally starts. Sometimes it sounds like it might start but fails but mostly it's just a single click noise. Sometimes it starts fine but I'm worried about it not starting sometime when I have to pick up my kids. Any help is so so appreciated.

A good place to start is with battery cables, check to insure they are tightly connected by trying to wiggle them on the terminal if they move they need to be tightened, also make sure they are not corroded.

Something I forgot to mention, the interior lights are on bright as ever and the headlights work no problem which led me to believe it wasn't a problem with the battery. Plus the battery is a new one only 1 month old.

Even though the battery is new and the lights are bright you could still have a loose or bad cable, a starter draws considerably more power then your lights and other accessories, if not a cable then it sounds like it could be a bad starter.

It's the starter. Replace it soon, as if it has an excessive draw, it may damage your battery.
