1997 Dodge Avenger car wont start

i cant get the car to start I turn the key the celonoid clicks but nothing happens the battery isnt dead but the starter wont engage

If you're hearing a kind of loud clunk, that is indeed the solenoid. It likely has worn contacts. They can be replaced but most people just replace the entire starter. If I'm right, it will crank eventually if you cycle the ignition switch to the "crank" position enough times.

My avenger was doing that also and it was the wires that connect to the battery.I dont know if you tried that
