So today I got home and turned the car off. After approximately 30 seconds the speedometer and tachometer, started jumping up and down rapidly. More or less small movements, the same kind you get sometimes when your battery is too drained to start I had the key still in the ignition. I ended up starting it 2 times more to try to replicate this with no success. I've looked online to see if any other CRV owners had this but cannot find anything. My question, is this a battery issue or could it be something else? I do not the battery is at least 4 years old, but I want to see what other things could cause this as well.

This is could be a couple things like circuit board issues in the cluster or ECM but that is unlikely. I think you nailed it with battery issues.

I would suggest load testing the battery and just seeing if it is weak even if you are not having any issues with it.

As you were talking about the issue, a battery issue is the first thing that popped up so I would go with that or you figure a way to make this do it again so that we can test it.

Otherwise, if it only does it once in a while, I doubt we will be able to prove what it is. Which means we need to guess at what it could be and this is the worst thing to guess at because you will only know if fixed it, if it never does it again and I do you know that it will not do it again? Hence not a good idea to guess at it.

Let us know what happens with the battery and if it needs to be replaced, here is a guide that will help if you need it:

Thank you, I'm going to get the battery tested tomorrow. It's always better to be safe than sorry. I'm not sure if I should do a new question in the forum or not, but I do have another question. How hard is it to change the mechanism that releases the turning signal after a turn. I've noticed a loud click when turning with the signal on. No clicks without the signal and turning. It's the same car, anywhere from 1 to 3 clicks depending on the type of turn. The signal does turn off on its own after a turn, but I'm trying to figure out if it's worth changin or just deal with it.

We can definitely help with that but we do need to start a new question. The only reason is, others will not find the answer to that under this heading and while we are here to assist you, the site is here to help all that have the same issue. So let's get a new one started for that and one of us will help out.

Thanks

Took the CRV today and had battery and alternator tested. Alternator was still good but battery was nearing the end of its life. So got a new battery installed and hoping this takes care of the problem.

Sounds great. The fact that this was drained and would cause issues like this, I feel confident that this was the correction. Thanks for the update and for using 2CarPros.
