I replaced my broken ground wire, fuel pump, fuel rail, tried a new computer and my car will not start. It will start on starting fluid for a second but cuts off. I’ve ran a scanner it shows no codes. I’m out of ideas.

Hello 540DONUTS,

Seems like everything is working except for fuel if it is starting with starting fluid.

Here is a video on how to fix an engine that won't start. It is very informative and may help narrow down the issue. It is made for people of all levels so some of the info you may probably know but other you may not.

Here is the link:
https://youtu.be/dCjmRL3p4Cs

Also, I would check every fuse first. There is a 10 amp in the fuse box behind left side of dash my information says, I am assuming they mean the side. This is the power supply to the fuel injectors. See if this fuse is good or not.

The best way to test fuses is by using a test light. This article will show you how to do that:
https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-check-a-car-fuse

From here I would check every fuse and see what has power and what doesn't.

This link will send you to an article for fuel injection testing. Just for some extra information.
https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-test-a-fuel-injector

We need to figure out why it isn't getting fuel, but we need to see what has power and what doesn't.

I'm leaning towards a fuse, something security related turning off the injectors, or an issue with the Intelligent Power Distribution Module (IPDM).

What ground wire did you replace exactly? Did it run before you changed the ground?

If you have a scan tool, plug it into the OBD II port and see if it powers on and communicates with the PCM or you can take a test light and go from pin 16 on the same connector, bottom row last one on the left. I included a pic for you. Take the other end and touch it to a known good ground.

There are 2 wires to each injector. One is that power wire going through the 10 amp fuse I spoke about and is red. The other goes directly to the PCM. I would unplug each injector one at a time and touch the terminal for the RED wire only and clip other end to the battery so we can see if we are getting power at each injector. I have added a wiring diagram for you.

I don't think it's your injectors, I just want to make sure the harness is supplying power to each injector.

Be careful with the test light because it doesn't have any protection in it to prevent you from burning something out.

Let me know if I can clarify anything.

Try these things out and let me know what you come up with so we can start eliminating things and get it narrowed down.

Thank you,
Brendon

I took my vehicle to my local Nissan dealership. The ground wore under the battery they said was broken and that’s why it wouldn’t start, I replaced it, and it still won’t start. I’ve recently tried messing with the fuses under the hood near the coolant reservoir for the fuel pump relay and ECM. Still won’t start.

Hello 540DONUTS,

It might have needed it but that doesn't mean it was causing the problem.

I would try those tests I sent. Something isn't getting power and we need to figure out where and why. So, testing all the fuses with a test light is the best place to start. Then we can either eliminate possibilities or we find another issue that is causing the issue.

It cranks and starts with starting fluid, so we immediately know it's a fuel issue. But is it the fuel system itself or something affecting it indirectly? If there are other circuits out for some reason, we won't know without checking all the fuses.

Do you have power at the Fuel Pump?
How about the injectors?
What about the fusible link on the right side of the engine compartment?
How are the fuses over there?

I have added a diagram for you for a relay, it's just a random relay. On your fuel pump relay, it should have a wiring diagram showing which is pin 30. If you connect you test light with the relay removed to that terminal on the relay/fuse box, do you have power at that terminal?

Thank you,
Brendon

Hello 540DONUTS,

Best thing to do if you aren't getting power to an area is to start at its source.

There is a 10-amp fuse in the fuse box behind left side of dash my information says, I am assuming they mean the side. This is the power supply to the fuel injectors. See if this fuse is good or not.
