Engine cranks would not start, but when I sprayed as shown in video it started right away?

Dear sir, I have a Ford e450 diesel 6.0 year 2010. My problem I crank but wouldn't start but when I sprayed as shown in video start right away. I drive everything is perfect even I stop the car for 3 hours and crank start fine without spree. But my problem if I park overnight and after approximately 10 or 11 hours when crank wouldn't start, so I have to do the spray process again to start and so on. I checked the oil regulator. It seems fine I was wondering if it is a fuse or sensor. Where is it located? If this is the problem where can I look to solve this problem? Thank you. Pic for the car and two videos explaining what I did.

Hi,

It sounds like the fuel pressure to start it isn't present. Do me a favor. Try this test and let me know what happens:

1) Turn the key from off to the on position (engine off) and count to 5.

2) Turn the key off and repeat step 1 a total of 5 times.

3) On the 6th time, see if it will start.

Let me know.

Joe

Thanks, a lot Joe you made me happy today. I did what you have said and start right away
Two days before I had this problem I refilled the tank where I had less than a quarter fuel remain this could be a reason? Or what was the reason if I may ask from your experience should I take further action so this is want to happen again or it is normal problem
Thanks again Joe I really appreciate your help.

Hi,

It appears there could be a fuel pressure drop-off issue. Cycling the switch forced the pump to prime five times before you tried starting.

Let's see if it continues working for you. If something changes, we will need to check fuel pressure and see how quickly it drops. In reality, we may have a pump that is getting tired.

Regardless, let me know if things change. Also, please feel free to come back anytime in the future. You are always welcome here.

Take care,

Joe

Hi,

The first time you do it, cycle the switch. See if it starts normally after that.

Let me know.

Hi Joe,

I but the filter I cycled switch but unfortunately didn't start so l had to start with spray.
If I may ask why the first time you sent me how to cycle the switch start right away but then when I used this method didn't work.
And what is next step will be?
I always wonder Joe why the car starts with spray and every things run smooth but if I leave it 10 hours or more not starting but a leave it less than that 4 or 5 hours start normally
The fuel pump sound function as normally as far as I know is there easier way to check it and is oil regulator could be a reason.
Sory for asking to much your patients I help encouraging me to ask.
Good day

Hi,

No problem whatsoever. You can ask as many questions as you want. LOL

I feel cycling the switch the first time allowed the fuel pump to build enough pressure to start it. If you tried it after replacing the filter, it may have required more time because the filter needed to refill and build pressure.

If I have to guess, I feel there is fuel pressure drop-off. When the engine is off long enough, the pressure is dropping too much and it won't start.

Try the key cycling again now that it has run and let me know if it works.

Also, the next step would be to test the fuel pressure to see if it jumps to the manufacturer's specifications.

If you look below, I attached the directions. The last pic has the specs. Also, the 6.0L wasn't offered in the F series. It was in the E series. Could you confirm that for me?

Let me know.

Joe

I wiil keep in touch as soon as he comes.
He mentioned to me the oil regulator could be a reason, do you agree?
Thanks again Joe, I really highly appreciated you helping me.

Hi,

You are very welcome. And yes, the regulator can be an issue. Is it now starting for you, or do you still need to prime it with starting fluid or cycling the switch?

Let me know.

Hi Joe,

I am still using the starting fluid every morning.
What amazes me Joe, is cycling the key worked perfect first but then I try every morning no luck I don't know why.
Secondly the car keeps running and cranks right away the whole day even I leave it for 4 or 5 hours but what I have noticed when I park it for 8 hours or more went start from your point of view, why?
Thanks a million Joe.

Something within the fuel system is either losing fuel pressure or the pump just isn't providing enough pressure to start it.

Have you been able to test the fuel pressure?

Hi,

The P0300 is likely related. It indicates a random misfire. The other two codes are not related. One is an issue with the ABS, and one deals with the alternator lamp. If you look at the first three pics, they indicate what each code indicated.

The remaining pics are to check the misfire monitor. Check to make sure there are no wiring issues.

Let me know.

Joe
