But Roy, supposing I continue to use the car this way, say there is no money to replace the tank now, what's the worst that can happen? Secondly, this broken baffles you talked about, is it what is responsible for the stop and start later process of the car which I told you about earlier? Thanks.

It will run fine on a flat surface and will continue to have low power when it is on an up or down incline.

Less I forget, the occasion of stop and start later process of the car which I informed you about and which I thought was fuel pump issue, is this also as a result of the baffles in the tank or something else is responsible?

Yes, it could be from the fuel slosh in the tank.

Resolve the tank issue when you can and see if the other problem goes away.

Hey Roy
With reference to the last issue discussed, car was still working until two days ago. Car won't start. Fuel pump seemed to have entirely ceased working. I thought replacing fuel pump would solve the problem. New fuel pump didn't work either as car won't start. Tested new fuel pump in another car and it worked fine so I concluded that fuel pump might not really be the issue here. Any idea what could be wrong? Thanks.

OK, you will need to check to see if there is voltage to the pump. Make sure all the fuses are working by using a test light to be sure power is on both sides of the fuses.

Check the 2 fuses listed in the diagram I attached.

I can't say I can make out anything from the diagram, I'm sorry about this. Where exactly would the fuse you are talking about be? If you could be a bit simpler in your explanation, I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

Under the hood, there is the fuse box. The 2 fuses I listed are marked injector and fuel pump. You need to test for power on both sides of the fuse to be sure power is going to the relay.

That is as simple as it gets.

Hello Roy,

I got a mechanic to help take out the old tank so I can get an exact replacement. From the old tank, however, I expected to see a visible broken baffle or some plastics loosely floating about in the tank. This was not the case as everything in the tank appear to be in place. Can everything be in place yet have a broken baffle? Thanks.

Hello Roy,
I had issues getting another tank so I instructed my mech to help reposition the fuel pump in the old tank. Hence, the fuel pump was reposition in such a way that it reaches the fuel very well. After this the car revs very well even while in slanted position. Though I've not gone on long trip but the short trips I've made didn't come with issues at all. However, on the day the pump was repositioned in the tank, I took the car out for a test and at a point there was loss of power but the engine didn't go off. I shut the car and restarted again then the engine revved well. I observed some heavy black smoke at this point while I revved but the heavy black smoke didn't last more than 30 secs or there about. I'm curious, what can you say happened there? Thanks.
Robin.

Hard to say. It could be an injector that did not shut off and leaked fuel into the cylinder and it had to burn off.

Did it happen again?
