Climate control blowers only work in one position

I could not get the windscreen defroster to work but realized that there are five settings including the defroster option but ut only works on one. I read an earlier post from 2012 which said that the cables could be damaged or gummed up so I want to check that. How do I open out the unit and check if the cables are the problem and do you agree that this may be the issue?

It sounds like you have a blower motor resistor or module that is out. Here is a guide to help you get the problem fixed. This guide shows how to test the system.

Hi Ken thanks for that but I am getting air flow and the speeds are variable from low to high. I just cannot select the different settings namely defroster, feet, feet and body, body and defroster. It only works on full body currently.

O okay, that would be the mode blend door actuator that is not working. I look under the dash on the heater plenum until you see the actuator then remove it and move the actuator pivot by hand with the system running to confirm you have the right one. HEre is a guide that will show you what you are in for when doing the job.
