My lights and gauges on my dashboard go haywire at night when my lights are on. I can reset on the dash button but problem comes back after a few minutes. This does not occur when lights are not on. The dealer ran diagnostics and replaced the battery but problem returned.I believe the problem is in the alternator or serpetine belt but the dealer said they checked this and they were fine.

Hi:
Has the dealer checked the body control module (BCM)?

The dealer said that they ran diagnostics and tested the alternator. They did not mention the BCM. I have been told there are basicaly 4 other items to check. The instrument cluster, the BCM, the alternator and the serpentine belt. I mention the belt because when the lights are on the extra load on the alternator could cause the belt to slip.

Thank you for your response and I will have the dealer check all of these.

Hi:
Have them check the belt, but I think you would hear it if it slipped. However, it doesn't hurt to check.
