Hi:

What relay are you refering to when you say you hold it to start? Is it the fuel pump relay? Is it making a clicking noise? Has anyone checked for a short in the fuel pump wiring? Have you replaced the fuel pump relay? Has the PCM been flashed?

Joe
PS: I'm sorry I have so many questions, but I'm not there with you, and I'm trying to make an educated suggestion. Please hang in there with me.

Hi
Make sure the fuse labeled "IGN SW" in Relay Center next to battery is good.

Does the security indicator remain illuminated when trying to start the van? If so, The problem that you describe is one with the antitheft system. There is a chip in the key that needs to be read by the SKIM module. If the correct signal is not read, the van will not start.

For all faults except transponder faults and VIN mismatch, the lamp remains on steady. In the event of a transponder fault the light flashes at a rate of once per second. If a fault is present, the lamp will remain on or flashing for the complete ignition cycle. If a fault is stored in SKIM memory which prevents the system form operating properly, the PCM will allow the engine to start and run for 2 seconds up to six times. After the sixth attempt, the PCM disables the starter relay until the fault is corrected.

If this is the case, there is a fault somewhere in the system that has disabled your van. Unfortunately, the dealership is the only place that can read, repair, and reset this security system. There will be no way to start the van until the problem is repaired and the system is reset.

Let me know if you have any more questions!

Hi:
I'm sorry to hear that it had to go back to the shop. Let me know the outcome, and I'll say a few prayers that it's not too expensive of a repair.
