My daughter notes while driving, the car sputters/surges, oil light comes on, stalls. Service engine soon light did come on once, then turned off on own. Friend's OBD II code shows 1259 (Is this the air fuel metering system?)

My son also owns a 1996 Sebring. It was doing the same thing. We took it to our local Chrysler dealer and had him put it on the machine. I don't remember the exact code, but it said the problem was the map sensor. I replaced that and it has not stalled since. No sputtering or surges. The map sensor cost around $60 and was very easy to replace.

Thanks for the info. I just had the map sensor replaced and so far, so good. My daughter says she can tell the difference in how the car drives. Keeping fingers crossed. Maryroux
