I have just bought a Neon 2 litre 2001 model in the UK and want to know whether the cam shaft is belt /chain or gear driven. If belt driven what is the recommended lifespan before change is necessary?
thank you

Your engine is timing belt driven. Recommended replacement interval is 100K miles and you should replace the water pump at the same time.

At 60K, you should replace the drive belts, spark plugs and wires.

It is a recent purchase and the handbook does not seem to cover the subject clearly enough. Thanks for the prompt response I will now endeavour not to blow it up.
