93 Jeep distributor button not rotaten

93 jeep distributor button not rotaten. What turns it? The oil pump drive gear? And were is it located in the intake? And would it be my problom? Its a 5.2 v8. Thanks!

Broken timing chain, broken gear on the distributor are among a couple of possibilities.

Have checked oil pump. Cam sensor. Rotor button not spinnin no fire.

Before you go there, you need to check the timing chain as it drives the distributor.

Remove the distributor and see if the gear is broke,

the oil pump is in the oil pan.

Whats the best way to get to oil pump drive gear to check and see if thats why distributor not turning or not firing

Why are you so hung up on this pump drive. It is the last thing you need to check? Start with basics

Timing chain, yes, thats what I have been trying to tell you. The distributor drives the oil pump but power orginates from the cam turning

Thanks roy ! Its just driving me crazy pulled in running great, changed water it was sippin and havent been able to get any FIRE since and old lady going crazy on me thanks again

Roy just went outside checked and camshahaft sprocket broke. Bottom of engine free. No metal in oil pan, havent checked top half yet. What would make sprocket break besides the chain? Ran fine when I turned it off. Could it just give out or jam up?

All I know rite now is I look under front from oil pan area and seen a broken piece hangin, looks metal couldnt see chain ill brake it down after work tomrow thank u. Like I said before parked it was runing great guess when I turned it off tennsion broke it?
