I went to the store came out put the key in and NOTHING, the radio, windows, lights work fine but would not even make a sound from the motor. Now it is sitting at the dealers to be looked at on monday (4/4/09) And with sales slow I have a feeling they will take too long to find the problem. Any help you could give me would be great.
Thank you. Rob Orton 541-788-4371

There have been other people with the EXACT same problem. What does your data base show was the fix for them. ( It had somrthing to do with the alarm system and the computer system. )

Al I have found is about having the key programmed or replacement of the key/tumbler assembly, which amobile locksmith may be able to do, but it would probably be best to have Chrysler do it, that way if it has other issues later, you can take it back to them

I HAD THIS EXACT PROBLEM WITH MY CROSSFIRE. WHAT A BIG HEADACHE IT WAS!

AT FIRST, MY CAR WOULD NOT START, ONCE IN A WHILE, FOR ABOUT A SECOND OR SO, WHEN I TURNED THE KEY, ALTHOUGH EVERYTHING ELSE SEEMED TO WORK JUST FINE. EVENTUALLY IT STARTED, SO I JUST BRUSHED IT OFF, THINKING IT WAS JUST MY MIND PLAYING TRICKS ON ME. AS THIS LITTLE PROBLEM GOT WORSE, MY CAR STARTED TO ALL OF A SUDDEN SHUT OFF EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE, WHILE AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, FOR EXAMPLE. HOWEVER, ALL I HAD TO DO WAS PUT THE CAR IN PARK, AND RESTART IT, AND EVERYTHING WAS BACK TO NORMAL. UNTIL THE PROBLEM GOT EVEN WORSE.

BY THAT TIME MY CROSSFIRE WAS LEAVING ME EVERYWHERE, STRANDED. YET AFTER ABOUT 20 MINUTES OR SO, IT ALWAYS TURNED BACK ON. THIS DROVE ME CRAZY, AS NO MECHANIC I TOOK IT TO, OR EVEN CHRYSLER THEMSELVES KNEW WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS, BECAUSE EVERY TIME MY CAR MALFUNCTIONED, IT ALWAYS TURNED BACK ON BY THE TIME IT GOT TO A SERVICE DEPARTMENT. EVERYONE, INCLUDING CHRYSLER, WAS TELLING ME THAT THE CAR NEEDED A NEW AIR PUMP. (I REPLACED IT TWICE, AND NOTHING IMPROVED)

AFTER PAYING CHRYSLER HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS TO REPLACE MY AIR PUMP, MY CAR LEFT ME STRANDED, YET AGAIN. AND EACH TIME IT WOULD "REPAIR ITSELF" AFTER A FEW MINUTES. I TOOK THE CAR BACK TO CHRYSLER WHERE THEY EXAMINED IT FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS. AGAIN, THEY HAD NO CLUE. THE WHOLE TIME THE CAR WAS THERE, IT NEVER SHUT OFF! THEY SAID THAT THE PROBLEM WAS MOST LIKELY SOME "CONDENSATION IN THE GAS TANK", AND THAT AS LONG AS I KEPT MY TANK FULL, IT WOULD SUBSIDE AFTER ABOUT 300 MILES. 300 MILES? OH WELL, SO I FILLED THE TANK, JUST AS CHRYSLER ADVISED, AND AS SOON AS I DROVE A MILE, IT HAPPENED AGAIN. ONLY, THIS TIME, THE CAR DIDN'T START AGAIN.

I WAS GLAD, BECAUSE NOW CHRYSLER WOULD SEE THAT I WASN'T JUST IMAGINING THESE THINGS. AND GUESS WHAT? IT TURNED OUT THAT MY CAR NEEDED A NEW ENGINE COMPUTER. ( PART COST- ABOUT $200, I CHECKED ONLINE.) LUCKY FOR ME, THIS REPAIR WAS COVERED BY SOME WARRANTEE I DIDN'T KNOW I STILL HAD.

THIS WHOLE EXPERIENCE WAS AN AGONIZING SIX MONTH ORDEAL, AND I DON'T WISH THIS ON ANYONE, SO I POSTED MY OWN EXPERIENCE IN DETAIL IN ORDER TO HELP ANY POOR PERSON IN THE FUTURE WITH A CROSSFIRE ISSUE LIKE MINE. GOOD LUCK!
