2000 Chrysler Concorde Automatic 95000 miles

I took my car into the dealership because my oil light kept coming on when idoling at a traffic light or intersection once the car got warm.

They told me that I needed a new sending unit. Mine was only a year old, but I went a head and had my neighbor (a mechanic by trade) replace it for me. He was considerably cheaper than the dealership!

The light however is still coming on. When we inquired with Chrysler's mechanic they told us to cut a tup and ground a wire.

this sounds fishy to me

My warranty is up in 3 days, and I paid 50 bucks for what I feel is a wrong diagnosis.

Any ideas.

Would have been cheaper to let the dealer do the work and find out their diagnosis was wrong. Defective sending units are quite common, so your friend had no reason to double check the diagnosis, but had he done so, he might have found what the dealership would have found if you had let them install the part.

The next most likely suspect is worn engine bearings, but that's not common either at only 95,000 miles. The only exception would be if you have the 2.7L engine and did not follow the recommended oil change interval.

Doctors come up with incorrect diagnoses all the time, but they are not held to the same high standards as mechanics are. Weird, huh?
