I have a dash light flickering. Oil level is fine. Light goes out if I give it a little gas.

Oil Pump? How can I be sure before I start one of my most enjoyable jobs--timing chain, water pump, type of work--oil pump is right in there too, right?

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi:
I would start by making sure the oil sending unit is good. Many times they will have a leak or just go bad causing this problem. If the pressure is low enough to turn the light on, you should hear knocking or ticking in the engine. IF you don't replace the sending unit. Also, make sure the oil is clean and not mixing with coolant or gas.

Let me know what you find.
