Hi there,

This is called self parking, this is controlled by the electrics and switching built into the wiper motor, I feel that this has failed, have the system check by your mechanic, but I feel that the wiper motor will need to be replaced. (Note) if the self park is at fault the wipers will normally stop anywhere on the screen, where ever they are when you turn them off)

Under the hood on the pasenger side you will see where the wiper linkage underneath the hood goes to a black square box monted to the firewall. Spray and soak it with any lubricant like WD-40 etc. This may loosen the pin that parks the wipers. If not while it is soak with lubricant have the wipers on low and tap the side of the square unit I mentioned above with a hammer - lightly.

This may allow the set pin to return allowing the wipers to park.

Try this before taking it to anyone that will charge you to do the same thing.

Call your gm dealer and have them check for recalls by giving them your vin # they recalled most of the park mechanisms on your vehicle. A quick fix is doing what the other gentleman said.
