I have an 1997 full sized pickup with a V 6 Vortec engine. I have had a problem with it starting if I haven driven it in a few days. I have to use starting fluid to actually start it. After it gets running, its good as long as I run it every other day. The engine runs perfectly smooth, Ive never had any problems it, no oil leaks nor does it burn oil. I was on my way home and the engine started acting up, sputtering and back firing every time I stepped on the gas, amost dying. If I let off the accelrator and then barly pressed on it I could get up to 20 mph. My question is cuold it be a fuel pump or just a fuel filter blocked or even something else. My second question is the ignition switch, Has there been a recall on these or what any advice would be helpful Thanks

It's best to check the fuel pressure, it takes at least 40 p.S.I. To operate your engine. It 's a great idea to change teh fuel filter but you could have a regulator problem as well.
