I just bought a 92 chevy K1500 Z71 4x4 V8 5.7L truck w/ a 5 speed manual tranny. Runs great, has 144526 miles. I have had a standard tranny car and it shifted smoothly in all gears. Are trucks the same? I was told that trucks are not quite as smooth in shifting. Obviously not meaning that it is grinding and my tranny is not. 3rd gear is just not as smooth as the others and I wonder if it is anything I should be concerned with. I do not have to force it or anything, it just shifts different going into that gear. No noises, slipping, grinding, or anything. I drives fine all the way up to 70mph. Would changing the filter and fluid cure the problem? Truck and been well taken care of in the past all around. I do not see why it would be but, if replacing the tranny is the answer, which is cheaper, rebuilding it, or replacing it? I just don't want to have work done on it that is not needed. Thanks

I am sorry but, I'm starting to think like I just entered the twilight zone, you can't make up your mind whether you have a problem or not, and were there is no problem as you stated, you want to make a problem. They only pay me $0.25 cents for every response, and my main priority is to help persons that have real issues but I find it in my heart to assist you, Because if I don't know one will respond to you. First of all, you cannot expect a truck to drive like a car, and you cannot expect a car to drive like a truck, and the parts are not interchangeable. But you can do like they do down in South America and take your car and cut the roof off behind the front seats, make a fat bed out of it and you have your truck that drives like a car.
