Light for the AUTO 4 wheel drive and the 2 & 4 wheel drive buttons change on its own?

The truck is RPM ing high and low in the morning. The at stops it might RPM up and down just a little. Then the panel light for the AUTO 4wheel drive and the 2 & 4 wheel drive buttons change on its own. So it seems to be shifting on its own. Is this a computer chip gone bad.

Hello,

It sounds like you might have an issue with the transfer case control module.
That is located on the left side of the instrument panel, behind the headlight switch (see diagram).
It controls all the functions for the transfer case selection.
This module can be reprogrammed to function properly.

I have included the reprograming procedure as well as replacement procedure.
