How do you remove the serpentine belt in order to replace the alternator? 94 silverado, with a/c, automatic. Do I first have to remove a tensioner pully and which pully is it?

How do I find your answer? In my email at auggiedog44@earthlink. Net or?

Heres a pic of your belt setup. The auto tensioner is spring loaded and you should be able to out a wrench on the nut right on the tensioner pully to release the spring tension and remove the belt. Fit on the new belt and turn the tensioner to complete the installation.

The replacement of the serpentine belt on this truck is straight forward and can be done in a short period of time.

Before removing the belt make sure to understand the belt routing, you can draw the routing or take a picture.
Use a breaker (ideally a 1/2 inch) bar with a socket placed on the pulley bolt and turn it clockwise this will release tension to remove the belt.

Here are couple of helpful articles:

I have attached the belt diagram as well as the replacement procedure below.

Any questions, feel free to let us know.
Thank you.
