A while back I screwed up my accessory power outlet by unknowingly plugging in a 400 watt power inverter and trying to use it to power a 1500 watt food dehydrator (to show the buyer it worked). The inverter turned on and instantly turned back off. The inverter works when connected directly to the car battery but not when plugged into the accessory power outlet?

Hello,

Check the accessory power outlet fuse labeled AUX PWR (a 20 amp fuse in the fuse box under the hood) here is a guide and the location of the fuse..

Check out the diagrams (Below). Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed.
