2000 Chevy Silverado

My Silverado is reving to a high RPM before it shifts. It also loses power when it shifts. What could be wrong and what is the approximate cost?

Should check for codes stored in the computer. Sounds like it may be a TCC/Valve body problem. Needs to be diagnosed, but this were a bit of a problem in that time period on the gms.
