I just got my truck back today from having the tranny rebuilt and the guy told me that when they ran a diagnostic test on it it came up with a idle air control code he said thats what causes the engine to run ruff when over drive kicks in almost struggling to run in a way is this accurate if you could help me with this that would be great thanks
also when it idles just in park it runs real ruff and gets pretty bad mpg could that be the cause as well

thanks
chris

Symptoms you have described do sound like a faulty IAC valve. If the diagnostics showed the IAC valve as being the culprit then inspect the IAC valve wiring to ensure it is connected properly. If wire connection is loose then reconnect it and see if it helps. If it is connected already then disconnect the IAC valve and listen to the RPMs. If the engine tries to stall after unplugging IAC valve then it is working. If the RPMs stay the same or get better even, this indicates a faulty IAC valve.
