my 94 chevy driver side door does not lock properly when I lock it from the inside because when I unlock it from the outside after locking it from the inside I can use ANY key to unlock it. I have had 2 stereos stolen and I believe this is the reason. When it is locked from the outside with the door key it cannot be opened with any key. Do I need to replace the locking mechanism?

I would say there is a problem with the locking mechanism adn to go ahead and replace it. Before you do that, try spraying some WD40 in the locking mechanism in the door jam. Also try spraying a little WD40 on your key and inserting it into the keyhole. This may loosen up something that may be stuck in the lock itself. If that doesnt work, I would say to go ahead and replace the locking mechanism, unless you want a mechanic to check it out but that could be costly.
