Fuel gauge not working properly

I have a 2000 s-10 4.3 with 11,500 miles on it. The fuel gauge reads inaccurate, always reading full, when it's not. It moves a little bit off full, but not accurate. Also, when I am at a stop light for more than a few seconds it buries the needle to E, once I tap the gas it goes back to full. Thanks for the help.

Good evening,

This could be the fuel sender unit in the tank, wiring or the cluster.

You will need a volt meter to test for voltage back at the tank to verify voltage to the sender.
