1989 Chevy S-10 oil pump

Why does the oil pressure drop down so far as to make the warning light come on after the engine gets hot? But when you apply the gas, the pressure goes up, When you stop, the pressure goes down and then the check gadges light flickers.

Could be a weak oil pump, low oil level, bad pick-up tube or faulty oil sending unit. First check oil level. If OK, check the oil pressure with a mechanical oil gauge. If gauge is accurate then inspect the pick-up tube and if necessary replace oil pump.
