2001 Chevy Monte Carlo No heat and Cold

My monte Blows cold when the selector is at 1st, when I try to run higher speed it blows only heat. And in Winter I got little heat when the selector is at 1 and when its at 2nd or above it blows pure cold from outside. What might be wrong with it. Also how easy to get to the heater core/evaporator?Pls help.

There are several things that must be checked. First of all you need to check and make sure the ac system is fully charged with freon. Can you hear the hot and cold door in the dash moving when you switch it from hot to cold? Id start by removing lower dash hush panels and look and see if you can see the doors moving while switching and we can go from there
