1999 Chevy Monte Carlo NEUTRAL SAFETY WITCH

Periodically my car won't start, then w'out service or repair it cranks again like nothing was wrong. It is beginnig to do it more frequintly someone told me it was a sensor in my break pedal. Do you have any ideas?

Does it crank when it wont start? Or does it crank just not start?

No it it won't crank/ turn over. It acts like the battery is dead but if I keep trying eventually it cranks right up

If the vehicle is placed in neutral will it start?

Check ignition swithc and starter relay/solenoid.

Sometimes, but messing with my gear shifter has seemed to be what gets it to start

Sounds like it very well be a bad neutral safety switch since messing with the gear shifter seams to get it to start.
