Hello there,


I have a 1980 Malibu Classic that I have owned for over 23 years. I have 83000 miles on her. It has a 305 with 4brl carb and a factory 4-speed on the floor. My question has to do with the tach. A couple months ago I noticed the tach was not registuring at all. Next time I drove it I noticed it was fluxuating and then it finally stuck on 6000 rpm. Goes to zero when car is off. Is this cable driven or electric and is there any fix for it. Thanks in advance,Dave

I don’t do much of older cars sorry but the general idea of the tack is driven by a signal from the distributor / coil check dist cap wiring by the coil wire (electric wire not ignition wire)
