1996 Chevy Lumina Car stalls at stop and hesitates on take-

Idle surges, car stalls. There is also a hesitation on take off. Fuel pressure is about 42 at idle and 50 when revving the engine in Park.

My college instructor had a 91 that did the same thing as yours is doing and it ended up being the torque converter was filling with metal filings from the transmission and getting magnetized which in turn stopped the engine from turning and stalled the car. Try changing your transmission filter and if that doesn't work there is a sensor that could be the problem.
