Engine Mechanical problem
1996 Chevy Lumina 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

My 96 lumina is having a problem, I can start the car and leave it for an hour and it will die. After it dies, I cannot start it, it just cranks and cranks. I have to wait another hour for it to completly cool down before it will start again. It also will die if you press the brake hard. I Don't have alot of money right now, I thought it might be the fuel filter, but now I dont think so because of the brake issue. It also seems to misfire/run rough when it gets hot. I waited until it stalled, and pressed in on the schrader valve, and gas comes out with good pressure behind it. Does anyone have any ideas or know of any tests that I can try to determine the exact cause of the problem? There is no check engine light either. Even after it dies I hook up the scanner and there's 0 codes. Please help!

Hello, when the vehicle refuses to start, have a helper crank it, while you check for spark at the plugs and injector pulse. If you have neither one, I'd check for an rpm signal? You can't check proper fuel pressure without a gage. I'd start with the basics and go from there.
