2002 Impala w/ 115K. Was on the highway the other day and pulled out to go pass someone but when I did I didnt go anywhere even though I was hitting 5 grand on my tachometer. My speed really didnt increase. AT ALL. I can build speed gradually but ramping on it I can't go anywhere. So I Get home. Got a lot of miles. Check the tranny fluid. Awefull. Brown and burnt. Okay. So 115K got to flush the transmission fluid but is there a problem beyond that that may have caused the fluid to get like this. Personally im thinkink lot a miles just needs to be flushed. Doesnt sliip or anything. ?

Have the transmission flushed and have the filter changed, the filter could be clogging up, after you have it flushed and have driven it a while I would check it again and see how the fluid looks and smells, if it is ok then that would have taken care of the problem, do you tow anything with the car? If you do you might want to think about a external
transmission cooler.
