Brakes problem
2005 Chevy Impala 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 62k miles

when I apply the brakes it feels fine at first. Then if I let up and apply again the pedal travels alot farther, almost to the limit. There is a noise comming from the engine that sounds like a wheering/quite clicking. The noise seems to match the rpms. About 1 month ago I noticed the brake fluid was very low. I added fluid and the level has been fine ever since, but the problem has gotten worse. I did notice the brake fluid reservoir's cap gasket has mushroomed out.

If you have an expanded rubber cap seal, it's a good sign that whatever you put in that master wasn't brake fluid. You must have used a petroleum product of some type, and now ALL rubber parts will need replacing. Including ABS system parts! The system is contaminated!
