Engine Cooling problem
2003 Chevy Impala 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

Can you help me? My car recently started overheating & water appears to be coming from under the cap due to a rust color developing in that area. Also, something is affecting my heater. It doesn't blow hot all the time. When I turn the car off, even after only driving a short distance, it makes the bubbling sound under the hood & the temp gauge rises. Any ideas what my problem may be & is it the same problem effecting the Heater as well as the cooling system? Thanks for the help.

Hi:
Do you mean the radiator cap? Also, is the cooling system full of coolant? Make sure if you add to use the correct coolant type. Also, yes the two are most likely related. How bad is the leak, is the over flow hose attached, dose all of the coolant seem rusty? Have you added coolant reciently and was it the correct type?

Let me know so I can direct you.

Joe
