Hello,

One of the reasons the engine can overheat is due to having low coolant.
Since the low coolant light is illuminated, it should be the first item that needs to be checked. Make sure the coolant is at the proper level and is in good condition.

If the coolant level is correct and you still get the low coolant light. Then the light is likely a bad sensor for the coolant level. Which is located at the bottom of the reservoir.
And the overheating can be due to a stuck closed thermostat, faulty water pump, bad radiator, inoperative cooling fan.

I have attached diagrams for your reference.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thank you.
