Engine Cooling problem
1984 Chevy Corvette V8 Automatic

My 84 Corvette is having issues. When I drive the car the coolant temp says that its 299 degrees and if I turn on the heater it says "Lo" Then after about 15 miles it says 299 again. Im not sure what to do.

Is engine actually overheating? Any other signs like boiling coolant, loss of coilant or smoke from under hood? If not then suspect faulty coolant temp. Sensor. Inspect and replace ECT sensor as necessary. ECT sensor is located on lower front of engine.
