Electrical problem
1989 Chevy Corsica 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Manual 200xxx miles

I am having a problem with this car that is making my hair gray. Driving home one day my car just stopped running. Instantly. No spudder, nothing. I checked it, no spark. Had it towed home. When cool, it fired right up and ran like a top. Had ignition module checked, it was bad. Put a new one on, cranked er' up, same thing. When reached operating temp, died. No spark. Had NEW ignition module checked. Bad again. I had the coils checked. One seemed to have too much resistance. I replaced it, along with the ignition module AGAIN. Let it sit in the driveway and run till it got to operating temp, then it died again. NO SPARK! Each time this happens, the ignition module is fried. What would cause the module to heat up to the point of cooking itself? I have applied the heat sink paste each time that comes supplied. Bad crank sensor? I am at my whits end with this thing.

It sounds like there is a bad ground or the crank sensor is bad causing it to produce to much spark. I would also check for grounded leads and bare spots. If this helps please contact.

Wow, a bad crank sensor will do that? Wiring looks good.

It alo could be your voltage regulator causing surges that will blow the coils and ingnition modules, I had one do this and like to have drove me crazy trying to find the prob.
