My colorado 2.8 4 cyl throwing code "operating temperature below thermostat threshold temperature" gauge was reading to cool for days "would not read above 1/4 hot" replaced coolant temp sensor now reading temperature correctly "just under half way on gauge" wondering if it could be thermostat stuck open "heat works" code is p0116 according to manual there are no other sensors in reference to engine temperature im stumped could just throw in another thermostat but dont want to waste 57 bucks if it isn't " you have to replace the whole housing it is 1 piece.

You probably fixed the problem with the sensor. Just under half on the guage isn't a bad temp to have. If the code wasn't erased it won't go away until at least 50 starts. Lyou havne' mentioned if it was erased or not. If after erasing and it still appears then you'll have to replace the thermostat. If that doesn't do it there may be another problem like a poor ground or a battery going bad.
