I just bought this truck so I don't know any thing about it's background. It seems to run fine in front of my house but when I take it down the road it acts like its starving for gas. It begins to die untill I let off the gas then it picks back up. I changed the fuel pump and filter. I was wondering if it could be a sensor or a clogged converter. I just don't want to keep buying parts I don't need as I already spent $200 on a fuel pump that apparently was working fine.

Check fuel pressure with mechanical gauge, if OK, then have a backpressure test performed on CAT.

My friend had a '93 Chevy Blazer with a 4.3 V6 Vortec engine. Had the same exact problem. Would run fine when at idle, but giving it gas would make it die out. I changed the spark plug wires, the distributor, and rotor button. That solved the problem. Never had a problem since then. Hope this helps. Good luck.
