2001 Chevy Cavalier ignition wont turn

I have a 2001 chevy cavalier the steering wheel is locked and the ignition wont turn, can you help/explain this to me

Two things you can try. One a different key. Second pull to the left or to the right on the steering wheel and try turning the ignition at the same time.

The lock may be worn or the sterring wheel is forcing pressure on the lock not allowing it to rotate.
