I took my car to the mechanic this afternoon and he mentioned that my water pump gasket will need to be replaced. It's been making noise on occassion and he pointed out to me that it was shaky. I have a car warranty that cover certain repairs. Under the category listed "water pump", the warranty mentions that it will cover (in relation to the water pump): impeller shaft, bearings, bushings & housing, and all pulleys. Does the water pump gasket have anything to do with these parts or would the warranty have simply mentioned "gasket" if it was? Thank you!

Hello,
Keep in mind that any time the water pump gets replaced, the water pump gasket needs to be replaced as well.
So regardless if it is covered by warranty or not, you will have to get shipping level warranty.

Here is a helpful guide:

Remember to only work on the cooling system when the engine is cool.

I have attached diagrams for your reference.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thank you.
