Hi, I am interested in purchasing a 1989 chevrolet trans am, but found it that it occasionally stalls when in park. I am wondering if this is a big deal, whether it needs to be fixed, what a stall entails and if it needs to be fixed, would it cost very much.

Just get someone to check the car for you. It can be easy fixer like a bad idle control valve, loose vacc hose or bad. Did you mean pontiac trans am?

If I may ask, im just wondering a ballpark amount of how much it would cost me to fix the problem.

Well its hard to say really whats wrong with car without checking it in person but if it stalls suddenly id start with the basics change the filters air fuel etc tune up. Its not expensive if u do it yourself. Air filter under 10 bucks fuel bout 7 to 8 in walmart pluggs bout 1.50 basic kind each. But I dont think spark plugs is the issue here. Then id try ignition control module the map sensor and airflow meter. But u can go to your local self serve junkyard to get these sensors just to figure out the prob with out spending much money, get what I mean?Because if you get these new it will get pricy.I have used junkyard parts and they work fine. Just look for a car with ur engine any gm car as long as the parts r the same. Look at parts here www. Kragen. Com so u can see what they look like then look for them and save lots of money looking for the problem. Good luck
