Engine Cooling problem
1984 Chevy Camaro V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic

the temp gauge isnt reading. You can push it all the way down and when you start it it just goes right back up. My thought is a new sensor considering it has a new thermostat. Any thoughts or concerns?

Well it might not even matter now the electric fan shorted out and caught part of the engine compartment on fire but i'll check it if the insurance decides not to total it out
