1975 Chevy Camaro V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic

just put in a new starter, used the shims in each and everyway. On the starter sound like it still stays on when I start the engine. What do I do?

Remove battery cable at starter connect remote switch to batt and solenoid terminal. Engage to move pinion gear out to fly wheel having loosened starter bolts bend up a paper clip adjust with shims until clip can be inserted between pinion and flywheel gear.
