my brake lights do not come on when the brake is steped on. I have replaced bulbs but no help. Tail lights work fine. Brake light at top works fine just nothing in taillight brake lights

I recently had a similar problem with my 2000, and I beleive they have the same turn signal switch. My brake lights didnt work but the top bar brake light did. Let me explain why. The brake lights use the same bulb as the turn signals, and well the turn signals go through that switch, the top brake light does not. Mine was real bad, the right turn signal didnt work either, shortly after my cruise failed. I bought the part on ebay ($30) and I just followed a repair guide that I found on autozone. Com. It took me about an hour. Good luck.
