2000 Chevy Astro Hard Shift

After about 50 miles of driving I get a semi-hard shift from 1st gear to 2nd gear. Every other gear shift is smooth. Could this be a flush & change screen solution or something more complicated? Thank you!

It could be. I recommend doing that to see if it helps. But in addition, there is a shift solenoid in the transmission (on valve body) that could be the problem too. To save the money of having to remove the pan twice and paying for the gasket and fluid 2 times, I would replace the solenoid too to see if that takes care of the problem.
