Electrical problem
1992 Chevy Astro 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

Van ran fine, was low on gas, stopped shut it off, put gas in it and it would'nt start. Checked the fuel filter and it was clogged. Checked power to fuel pump and voltage was low. Replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter, module relay under hood, battery, and respliced the four wires, (purple, grey, black, black w/white stripe). Van STILL won't start! Any ideas?

Hi, can you hear the pump run a couple of seconds when you first turn the key on, no crank. After your work, did you double check good voltage and ground at the pump? Use a gage and check fuel pressure. What is your engine vin? Also, check for any possible codes. Engine cranking, do you have spark at the plugs?

Realized their was no power to the pump. Ran the power wire (grey) direct to the fuse box and hooked up the ground. Turn the the key on, heard the key and bam! Fired right up. Ran it for about an hour around town, stopped a couple times, shut it off and it re-started fine. Went out their this morning and back to the same thing, turns over and won't fire. But I can hear the pump running now. Stuck, Any ideas on were to look now? Jamie

You can't leave the pump hooked-up like that, if the fuse circuit is hot all the time, the pump will run continually.

Use a gage and check fuel pressure. Some national brand autostores will loan a fuel pressure gage.

You didn't answer my question about spark at the plugs? Also, It would help to know the vehicle vin letter, so I would know if your vehivle is tbi or cmfi?

Do you have any trouble codes?
