I changed out the key ignition myself. The engine started and ran perfectly. I can hear the gas pump turn on and see the gas being delivered via the carb. To check for spark I pulled a plug wire off a plug. Inserted a 2–3-inch Phillips driver bit and held it close to an engine bolt and I clearly had spark. The engine ran great before this, so the problem must be in the steering column. Thank you for all that you do. Dave

Hi,

If you presently have fuel and spark, the engine should run. By chance, does the engine fire and then stall when you try starting it?

Also, here is a link that explains how to retrieve diagnostic trouble codes on this vehicle. You don't need a scan tool. All you need is either a short jumper wire or even a paper clip.

Follow the directions in this link and let me know what you find:

Next, I don't know if the vehicle has one, but is there a security light or anti-theft light staying on or flashing?

Let me know.

Joe
