The shift knob button will not press in to change gear. The car is stuck in park.

Good morning,

There is a plastic piece broken inside the shifter itself not allowing a pin to be pushed to release the shifter.

You will need to replace the shifter assembly. You will need to remove the console, remove the shift cable and electrical connections and remove the 4 bolts holding the unit secure. You can get a replacement at a junk yard.

1. Remove the trim plate from the front floor console.
2. Disconnect the wiring harness connector and retainer.
3. Open the console storage compartment.
4. Remove the storage compartment mat.
5. Remove the bolts from the bottom of the storage compartment.
6. Remove the console bolts forward of the shift control lever.
7. Remove the front floor console.
