Thanks for that info. I'm still having the same problem as when I started. Which is. It won't drive over about 30/35 mph. It spudders. Here's what I've already replaced. New(rebuilt) Holley carb. Most of the vacuum lines and the transmission shift module, I also put a new electric external fuel pump ( which was there already and am guessing the prev. Owned installed ). I guess my question is. Got any ideas why?

Okay, let us back up.

Did you check the ignition timing? If you did, what did you set it at and did you adjust it with the vacuum advance disconnected?

Did you check the compression on at least 1 cylinder?

The other thing would be the exhaust. Did you either drop the head pipe and road test or remove the O2 sensor to see if the performance improves?

Does the transmission shift through all the gears?

I'm going to put it on a trimming light tomorrow, and I'm guessing advanced if anything right? Maybe 3-5 degrees. What's your suggestion? And no I hadn't checked the compression yet. Nor have I done the 02 sensor. And yes, it shifts thru 3 gears. It has a c4 transmission. I just recently bought this motor home and don't know much about it. I can't find a owner repair manual on this type of motor home and chassis. Its a 1984 e350 Kingston motor home with a 460 engine. If you have any ideas on that too would be most helpful. Thanks again. Hippie

Okay, I hope it is not a C4. It should be a C6. The C4 is way too small for this unit.

Do those checks and get back to me.

I checked the manufacturer plate on the drivers door and the code was "g" and a book I have on ford pick ups 1965-86 says it's a C4. If I'm wrong, please tell me the correct transmission. Like I said, I can't find a repair manual for this model.I will get to those tests and get back with ya.

I am looking at options and the only one I see is the C6.

Can you post a picture of the transmission pan?

I'll try tomorrow. I'm pretty sure it's the original engine and tranny. If you could tell me what tranny goes with code G on a e350 ford that would be awsome. And if it's a C6 like you say. That's interesting.

The only transmission listed for the 7.5 is the C6. It takes a special bell housing and the C4 does not have that option to bolt to a big block.

Hey guys, so it turns out the timing is fine, however, I did discover a exhaust leak on the egr plate that in between the carb and the intake manifold. My question to y'all is this. Since the egr is plugged off, could I remove that plate and just install the carb to the intake manifold. By removing it will it effects the air/fuel mixture. Thanks for any info. Hippie

No, due to the blt pattern. It will not bolt up.

It needs to be there.

Roy, the bolt pattern is the same. They both slip into four threaded studs that are anchored in the intake manifold. I'm not sure I understand your answer. But thanks anyway

Take a look at the passages in the intake manifold where the plate bolts up. It has an exhaust port and an intake air port. With the plate installed, you do not see those ports exposed. That is the difference. You cannot just use a gasket and install the carburetor.

Hey. Question for you. Oh a 1984 e350 /460 engine, automatic Kingston motor home, I'm wondering about it having too small of an alternator will effect the performance of the engine? Now with a brand new 60 amp alternator, after starting it, I disconnected the battery and it dies. Is that because the alternator is too small? Thanks for any information. Hippie

Due to the exhaust port. It will overheat the base of the carburetor. You need that plate to be installed.

Okay, disconnecting the battery with the engine running is not a test and can damage components. It tests nothing.

The alternator needs battery voltage to work. When you disconnect the battery with it running, it should shut off.

If that was the original amp rating for the alternator, then that is good enough to maintain the battery.
